Wonderful Words of Life
Wonderful words of lifeSing them over again to me,wonderful words of life, Let me more of their beauty see,wonderful words of life; Words of life and beautyteach me faith and duty.RefrainBeautiful words, wonderful words,wonderful words of life, Beautiful words, wonderful words,wonderful words of life.Christ, the blessed One, gives to allwonderful words of life; Sinner, list to the loving call,wonderful words of life; All so freely given,wooing us to heaven.RefrainSweetly echo the Gospel call,wonderful words of life; Offer pardon and peace to all,wonderful words of life; Jesus, only Savior,sanctify us forever.
At Calvary
A personal favorite.
Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary.
Refrain
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary.
By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary.
Refrain
Now I’ve given to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing of Calvary!
Refrain
Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary!
Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary.
Refrain
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary.
By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;

The Mystery of Grace
Who shall know it.
The Mystery of Grace —John Newton | |
The Mystery of Grace In evil long I took delight, Unawed by shame or fear, Till a new object struck my sight, And stopped my wild career. I saw One hanging on a tree, In agonies and blood; He fixed His languid eyes on me, As near His cross I stood. Sure never till my latest breath, Shall I forget that look! It seemed to charge me with His death, Though not a word He spoke. My conscience felt and owned the guilt And plunged me in despair; I saw my sins His blood had spilt And helped to nail Him there. A second look He gave, which said, "I freely all forgive; This blood is for thy ransom paid; I die that thou may'st live." Thus while His death my sin displays In all its blackest hue, Such is the mystery of grace, It seals my pardon too! —John Newton |
