Foes Become Friends

The day was December 25, in the year 1914.  There was a war going on, a war of such size it would be recorded as the "Great War".  It was Christmas day and, suddenly, the bombs stopped and were forgotten.  Then everyone got up out of the trenches and cubbyholes and went over to each other and shook hands. They now approached the ones a day earlier they would have called their enemies.  What had possessed them?  They were talking peacefully to their adversaries. They summoned up the courage to actually talk to them in hope that they would not shoot at them instead.  It was Christmas Day and they were going to celebrate with each other.  There were eyewitness' accounts of it.  There were Germans and Scottish, Americans and British, and several other nationalities.  It was a  peaceful Christmas and a happy one because they individually were able to put away their differences and communicate.

Now after hearing that true story how many reading this have ever gone to their enemies and forgiven them on a much smaller scale.  They were talking to the ones who had possibly killed their best friends.  Your enemies at the worst lied to you, made fun at you, tripped you.  And yet why is it that we can never manage the courage to go over and forgive them on any occasion.  This year lets make sure that we can make peace with our enemies.

Take Heart, Have Courage

"Take Heart, Have Courage"

There is a tool that our enemy uses
that is more powerful than most others
that tool is called discouragment
and it does its job well

It knocks us down so low
we feel we can't get up
but there is One who can help
there is One who can lift our soul

We can choose to stay down
or we can ask for His help
When He comes down He'll say
its alright...Take heart Have courage

That's My King! - SM Lockridge

Thought you might like this :)

Wounded But Not Slain

A personal favorite.

Wounded But Not Slain

I’m wounded now, but I’m not slain.
I’m bruised and faint they say
Just let me lie and bleed awhile;
I’ll not be long this way.

My Spirit’s low and my eyes flow.
My heart is sad and sore;
But when my pen’ent tears are gone,
I’ll stand and fight some more.

I’ll bind these wounds; I’ll dry these tears;
I’ll close this bleeding vein;
I’ll not lie here and weep and die:
I’ll rise and fight again.

‘Twas yesterday I bowed so low,
Was weak from tears and pain;
Today I’m strong; my fears are gone;
Today I fight again.
