Wonderful Words of Life

Wonderful words of life
Sing them over again to me,
 wonderful words of life, Let me more of their beauty see,
wonderful words of life; Words of life and beauty
 teach me faith and duty.
Refrain
Beautiful words, wonderful words,
 wonderful words of life, Beautiful words, wonderful words,
 wonderful words of life.
Christ, the blessed One, gives to all
wonderful words of life; Sinner, list to the loving call,
wonderful words of life; All so freely given,
 wooing us to heaven.
Refrain
Sweetly echo the Gospel call,
wonderful words of life; Offer pardon and peace to all,
wonderful words of life; Jesus, only Savior,
sanctify us forever.

At Calvary

 A personal favorite.

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary.

Refrain

Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary.

By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary.

Refrain

Now I’ve given to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing of Calvary!

Refrain

Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary!

The Mystery of Grace

Who shall know it.
 The Mystery of Grace —John Newton
The Mystery of Grace

In evil long I took delight,
Unawed by shame or fear,
Till a new object struck my sight,
And stopped my wild career.

I saw One hanging on a tree,
In agonies and blood;
He fixed His languid eyes on me,
As near His cross I stood.

Sure never till my latest breath,
Shall I forget that look!
It seemed to charge me with His death,
Though not a word He spoke.

My conscience felt and owned the guilt
And plunged me in despair;
I saw my sins His blood had spilt
And helped to nail Him there.

A second look He gave, which said,
"I freely all forgive;
This blood is for thy ransom paid;
I die that thou may'st live."

Thus while His death my sin displays
In all its blackest hue,
Such is the mystery of grace,
It seals my pardon too!

The effect of Hate

I would like to share a true story I read with you and I want you to honestly think if it is a problem in your life.

A college girl walked into class one day and saw in the front of the class a couple stands with targets hung on them.  Once all the students were there the teacher told them to all pick one person they disliked, hated, or despised.  When they had done that he picked some of them to come up and draw a picture of that person they disliked and gave them each a few darts.  Then when they had finished drawing they were to throw the darts at the picture they had made.  Well of course they ran out of time this girl did not get to throw or even draw the person she was thinking of.  Once everyone was settled down and seated the teacher calmly walked up to the pictures and one by one slowly took them down.  Suddenly everyone was ashamed at themselves, for behind each target was a picture of Jesus.  Each and every one of those students looked at what they had done to their Lord and Savior.  Some pictures were pierced in the eye, or the stomach, or torn apart so badly you could hardly tell there was anything there at all.  No words were needed except those of John,

1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Tears filled the eyes of the students as they looked on.

Now I know some of us think "Oh I don't hate my brothers that much." but we never seem to understand how much it hurts them or Jesus.
